After a long and serious deliberation, the EWCA Board has made the heart-breaking decision to postpone the EWCA Conference 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We are now planning to hold the conference in Graz in 2022. As the circumstances remain highly uncertain, we decided against postponing the conference to 2021 because it is impossible to predict whether international travel will be possible by then. It is also difficult to hold a synchronous online conference because of our international community and the issues associated with different time zones.
We intend to keep the original conference theme of “Empowerment”. Everybody who already had an abstract accepted is welcome to join us and to deliver their presentations, workshops or roundtables in 2022, exact dates to be confirmed. Others who were unable to submit for various reasons will have the chance to answer a call for papers that will be forthcoming by the end of 2021.
We regret having to take this step. We have been very much looking forward to welcoming all of you to the conference in Graz this year and to creating a space for our community to come together, to talk, to discuss, and to celebrate.
In the meantime, we are evaluating different options for the EWCA-community to keep in touch until we meet again, and we will share our ideas with you soon. We are hoping to find a format which enables us to continue to exchange ideas, raise questions and foster connections in our community.
You may still contact us in case you have any questions; however, it may take us a little longer than usual to answer your questions.
